2009 Blue's

   Wow, Christmas is over, 2010 is rapidly approaching, where has the year gone.  Dad had his stroke Jan 3rd and it's been mostly a down year.  It's been filled with challanges, but also with success.  He looked so bad when we transferred him from Michigan to Indiana.  He can now walk short distances.  Talking is difficult, but he can communicate, short sentences and hand gestures(the hand movement keeps the conversation lively).  Some of his favorite phrases now days are "Awe shit" and "F*** it", this from a man that was not vulgar before.  He uses them at the appropriate time, so I think it's ok.  He still has some ailments to be treated, but things could be much worse.
    We visited him on Christmas Day, he was eating ham and squash, the nurse said this was the first time he had eaten in a week.  He was happy to see us, very engaging, talking and playing with Angel.  He opened his gifts with Angels assistance, the wrapping paper had to be refolded, so no tearing or ripping at the packages.  Angel and him had to play(again) with the card Aunt Bev had sent him for his B-Day.  It was is a talking card that Angel finds funny and Dad finds Angel funny.  Digger said Dad was just as perky when he visited a little while later.
    Like a lot of other places, it's snowing here.  I envy those of you living in warmer climates.  I think I was meant to be a beach bum or to live on a boat. Here's a picture of the road to Angel's group home.

      Well I guess it's time for me look vacation spots for the new year, it will come as no surprise that I'm looking at the Caribbean.  I need some beach therapy.  I hope you all have a safe and Happy New Year.

Back Home again

Sorry for the delay in updating things, it's been a busy week.  Angel and I went to visit with Dad today, he was chipper and looked very good.  I had went around the building to fill his birdfeeder and could hear Angel talking to him from the outside.  In many ways he's just the way he was.  Salvation Army came around to visit, but he waved them off.  They asked if they should come back later, he gave them a very adamant NO and pointed to the door.  He was happy to see Angel though.  He had a good birthday, Angel, Digger, Tammy, Aunt Dorie and Uncle Larry took him chocolate pie.  He didn't eat any, but enjoyed the attention.
Todays picture;

Aunt Bev and John at the marina.
Well I better finish my housework so I can watch a little more football before bedtime.  In case anyone missed it, the COLT's are now 14-0.  Have a great start to the work week.

Family

   Since I've not been able to get to my other pictures and I have nothing else to talk about I thought I would share of few of my other favorite things.  Not in any given order.

Digger, one of my best friends and someone I'm very happy to call brother.

2 very special ladies, my sister Sundaye and my Aunt Dorie.

My boat "DayDreamer".
Well these first few posts have been about me and things I hold dear, but there are 2 ladies that are very dear to me, unfortunately they live very far from me here in Indiana.  AND they have sent me pictures, this is the only warning, if you send me pictures I WILL POST THEM.  Since these pictures were sent without any thought to them being posted somewhere I will give them the chance to veto my posting of them.  I have also been looking at old cookbooks for family Holiday recipes to share.  Will also be posting December birthdays later this week.  Take care a everyone.

Years Best and Worst

    I thought I would post a couple of my favorite pictures from this year.  The first is of Goombay, Angel and I when we were in the Bahamas for Angels 25th birthday.  Yes, my little darling is 25 years old.

    The second is of Angel and 2 pirates in Key West.  That is a real peg leg and a live parrott.  Angel makes friends everywhere she goes and Key West was no different.  She found atleast 8 people in Key West who used to live in Indiana.  She was a complete delight to travel with and I was very fortunate to be able to have taken this trip with her.  Thats been the highlight of my year.
    Now the event that was not the highlight of my families year, my Dads stroke.  Dad on average now days does ok, just ok.  The stroke was severe and effected a great portion of his body.  On his behalf I thank everyone that have sent letters, cards and prayers his way.  Things could be much worse for him.  His better days are filled with visits from the grandkids, his own and Dorie's.  He ALWAYs perks up when the kids visit. Thank you all and have a great day.
